Whew
Glad that lunch is finally over. It took forever.
There's no signed deal, but thanks to the architect, we have a very strong lead on a REPUTABLE contractor. I was beginning to doubt whether any even existed in this area. Gordon is still having a rather long lunch with the architect and the contractor as I type. Wonder how it's going...

Sometimes that's true. Bet you're wondering what we're up to over here.

"We" were scooping mulch earlier this week at the Community Garden when, lo and behold, the Tree Guy went driving through the alley with his mom. She looked great, btw. Anyway, G called it right - Tree Guy said he's been busy (sick mom, he fell, etc.) and asked if the electric company had dropped the lines yet so he could cut a big tree. Obviously not and if it had, the lines would have been down for over a month now. Tree Guy said he'd be out this week to finish up the job. I'm not holding my breath.... he must have known that it would rain all this week.

From around the corner, someone yelled at me, "Hey, bag lady!" as I was picking up trash in front of and alongside The House Next Door. People just toss trash out their car windows or let it fall or toss it out when they open their car doors. I didn't find anything too gross, thank goodness - just candy wrappers, fast food wrappers/cups, broken booze bottles, pizza boxes, ice bags and such. There's still lots more in the alley way. Our alley is a prime target for illegal dumping. I didn't want to stir up all that nastiness with the babe right there, so that will have to be cleaned out another day. The House Next Door looks better now and so does our little portion of the neighborhood.
Are you wondering who called me "bag lady"? I'll give you one guess.

I give up on The Tree Guy. We haven't heard from him in a couple of weeks, at least. I'm too lazy to look up the last post about him... as if there are a lot to go through. At any rate, the flat on his truck has been fixed for at least a week - if not more - and we haven't seen or heard from him. Guess he doesn't want the final payment. He did work hard for his money, but I'm not going to chase someone down to finish the work and get paid. He did about 90% of the work and he did a good job. Now we get to keep it up since he apparently won't be back.
I'll be out with the trimmers again soon because of the infamous tree sprouts. They're back!
